  • Who is eligible?

    Categorical eligibility (must meet at least one):

    • Pregnant women (throughout pregnancy)

    • Breastfeeding women (up to baby’s first birthday)

    • Non-breastfeeding postpartum women (up to 6 months after birth)

    • Infants (0–12 months)

    • Children (up to their 5th birthday)

    • Caregivers (fathers, guardians, foster parents) applying on behalf of infants/children under 5 fns.usda.gov+1en.wikipedia.org+1

    Residency: Live in Texas (no minimum duration; U.S. citizenship not required)

    Income: Household income ≤ 185% of the federal poverty level, or already receive Medicaid, SNAP, or TANF
    Example gross monthly limits:

    Nutrition risk: Identified during a WIC certification appointment (e.g., anemia, poor diet) by qualified health professionals

  • What is Texas WIC?

    A federally funded nutrition program (administered in Texas by the Health & Human Services Commission) that provides:

    • Nutritious foods,

    • Nutrition education and counseling,

    • Breastfeeding support,

    • Health screenings, and

    • Referrals to social and health services
      for eligible pregnant/postpartum women, breastfeeding moms, infants, and children up to age 5.
